Many web masters, making money from these sales create a whole network of such satellites for the purpose of promotion of other sites and mostly that is exatly what they offer you as a free web site or a web site to rent. The time investment and expenses on their part are almost equal to none but the client fills the site with authentic content, so invaluable for high ranking in search engines and thus for the subsequent sale of the link references to other sites with similar content.

If you decided to go for a free web site, you need to be ready that it's quite likely your web site could be blacklisted by search engines and almost certainly will not reach any top positions in organic results or high ratings.
